A few more steps to get the letterpress back up and running after the big move. Ker-bloom! issue #96 will be coming out on time in mid-June.
With help from a house friend, the letterpress room is nearing usability, if not total completion. Let the productivity commence!
Ker-bloom! will now be available at Le Bouqiniste book kiosk associated with the Curious Matter gallery in Jersey City, NJ. Apparently the kiosk gets around town, so if you’re in the neighborhood, keep an eye out for it.
Bernard Eärendil, our newest and youngest resident. And yes, he’s named after a writer and a Tolkien character.
Also the product of the content in Ker-bloom! issues #94 and #95.
Title page to Ker-bloom! #95, using a very old type cut of a skateboard.
Ker-bloom! issue #95 is out now and available through the Etsy store. It’s the story of how I started my little family and features a screenprint of the ultrasound on the front cover.
Thanks to the terrific crew of people who moved the letterpress and guillotine today.
Tomorrow, March 24, brave the threatened rain and help us move two beasts of machinery from the Cyberpunk basement to the new location across the Allegheny River. Show up at 5431 Carnegie St. in Lawrenceville at noon to be part of the loading-up crew, or wait until about 2 pm and show up at 1200 Boyle St. on the North Side to be part of the loading-in crew. You won’t regret it, and neither will I.
The type’s new home. Thanks to everyone who came out and helped.
As you may already know, the entire Ker-bloom! printing office is moving across the Allegheny River this coming week. We’ll be moving the type tomorrow, March 18, starting at noon at 5431 Carnegie Street, in Lawrenceville. If you live in the area, please consider coming by to help carry some cases of type out to the truck. Many hands make light work. To sweeten the deal, we’ve made a bunch of pumpkin-chocolate muffins.
